Use of Thermography in Lameness Evaluation

نویسنده

چکیده

Thermography is a practical aid in the clinical evaluation of lameness. This modality specifically increases the accuracy of a diagnosis for upper limb lameness by confirming inflammation in palpably sore areas and by showing the area to concentrate further diagnostic testing such as sonography, radiography, or muscle biopsy. The Role of Infrared Thermography as a Non-Invasive Tool for the Detection of Lameness in Cattle

The use of infrared thermography for the identification of lameness in cattle has increased in recent years largely because of its non-invasive properties, ease of automation and continued cost reductions. Thermography can be used to identify and determine thermal abnormalities in animals by characterizing an increase or decrease in the surface temperature of their skin. The variation in superf...

The role of thermography in the management of equine lameness.

Equine thermography has increased in popularity recently because of improvements in thermal cameras and advances in image-processing software. The basic principle of thermography involves the transformation of surface heat from an object into a pictorial representation. The colour gradients generated reflect differences in the emitted heat. Variations from normal can be used to detect lameness ...

Evaluation of Thermal Imaging in the Diagnosis and Classification of Varicocele

Introduction: A varicocele is the abnormal dilation and tortuosity of venous plexus above the testicles. The pattern of abnormal heat distribution in the scrotum can be detected through thermal imaging, which is a distant, non-contact, and non-invasive method. The aim of the present study is to detect and grade varicocele. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted on 50 patients with high...

Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging and manual lameness scoring as a means for lameness detection in cattle

Accepted: 14/06/2014 Abstract Lameness is a serious issue in the dairy industry, both economically and from an animal welfare perspective. The incidence of lameness in UK herds has been estimated to be around 20-25%. The study looked at the use of Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (DITI) and manual lameness scoring as a means for lameness detection in cattle. This was carried out at dairy unit i...
